Octopus CLI 2.20.1, published by Octopus Deploy Pty. Ltd., is a cross-platform command-line tool designed to let DevOps teams create, deploy, and manage releases, runbooks, and deployment targets without leaving the terminal. Part of the continuous-deployment category, the utility exposes the full Octopus Deploy REST API as streamlined commands such as octo pack, octo push, octo create-release, and octo deploy, enabling automated packaging of NuGet, ZIP, or Docker artifacts, uploading to built-in or external feeds, and coordinating multi-tenant promotions across development, test, and production environments. Build-server extensions for Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and TeamCity internally invoke the same CLI, so scripts that run locally behave identically when executed in CI pipelines; this parity simplifies troubleshooting and shortens feedback loops. Operations teams leverage the tool for runbook automation—restarting services, rotating certificates, or running database migrations—while developers use it to spin up short-lived cloud targets or to validate deployment JSON before it reaches shared infrastructure. Since its first public build, the project has evolved through twenty-nine feature releases, adding support for Kubernetes targets, Workers, Cloud Regions, and configuration-as-code, all of which remain accessible in the current 2.20.1 build. Octopus CLI is available for free on get.nero.com, with downloads provided via trusted Windows package sources (e.g. winget), always delivering the latest version, and supporting batch installation of multiple applications.
